Kisspeptin, the hormone of impure thoughts

Kisspeptin, the hormone of impure thoughts

For the researchers of the Imperial College of London, the experiment was meant to be a simple confirmation of the interaction between the hormonal system and reproductive functionality; they certainly could not have imagined that they would have discovered the raison d’être of impure thoughts!

According to an experimental study published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation , sexual fantasy is profoundly influenced by a hormone, kisspeptin , which awakens and enhances the brain activity associated with love and sex. In practice, if we indulge in sinful thoughts or if we see erotic calls even where there are none, or if on the contrary we find ourselves in a phase of declining desire, it is all the fault of chemistry: kisspeptin is mainly responsible for sexual arousal . sole defendant in the cause of desire or decreased libido.

Kisspeptin is an old knowledge of sector studies, because it is a hormone secreted by the gonads which plays a decisive role in puberty and sexual maturation in men. But the research of the English team shows that when the blood concentration of kisspeptin increases, the mind tends to shift attention to erotic thoughts, increasing libido and sexual desire.

During the experiment, which was conducted in a double-blind manner, on  32 pre-menopausal women (19-48 years) and 32 men (21-52 years) with HSDD , it was noted that the men treated with an injection of kisspeptin, they had an extremely more reactive mind to erotic stimuli; unlike the men injected with the placebo, who showed no signs of equally intense brain activity in the areas of sexual arousal and falling in love.

In women, the researchers found that kisspeptin made participants ” feel sexier ”  and boosted brain activity in the hippocampus , a key area implicated in female sex drive.

The two parallel studies, conducted  by researchers from Imperial College London and Imperial College Healthcare Nhs Trust , and  both published in the journal  Jama Network Open, they also analyzed for the first time kisspeptin and its effects on people with Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD) , a condition characterized by the total or partial absence of sexual desire and fantasies.

“Our two studies provide the first evidence that kisspeptin is a potentially safe and effective therapy for both women and men with low sexual desire ,” researcher Alexander Comninos points out,  that even the most extraordinary of erotic fantasies has a biochemical substrate and that, if our body did not produce kisspeptin, sex would be completely detached from the psychic dynamic and we would have no sexual desire.

In fact, the experiment confirms another important truth: external stimuli that in some way evoke sex or imply a mischievous dynamic act as an activator of conscience and cognitively predispose us to copulation. Therefore, affirming that sex starts from the head has a scientific basis; however, it should be emphasized that, at least for humans, it must in any case first pass through the eyes.

Is that why you like watching Females so much, Friends?
